Access Compass Pay Stubs Safely from Your Phone
ESS Mobility gives eligible Compass Group associates a mobile-friendly route to pay stubs, W-2 forms, schedules, timesheets and other role-based employee tools.
This guide shows the safest login route, where to look for a pay stub, how to check the figures, and what to do when the portal does not work as expected.
Quick answer
Open ess.compassassociate.com on your phone. Hourly associates who do not use OMS generally sign in with their existing Compass Associate Portal credentials. Managers and hourly administrators with OMS access use their OMS credentials. After login, open More and choose Paystubs.
What Is ESS Mobility?
ESS means Employee Self Service. ESS Mobility is the mobile-access portion of the Compass employee system. It is designed for use in a smartphone or tablet browser, although the exact menus shown after login depend on your job role and account permissions.
It is not simply a public pay-stub website. Access is connected to an active or eligible employee record, and the system displays only the tools assigned to that user.
Frontline or hourly associate tools
- View and download paycheck stubs
- View available W-2 forms
- Review personal schedules and timesheets
- See PTO balances when enabled
- Use Mobile Punch or labor-pool features when assigned
Manager or hourly administrator tools
- View and download personal pay stubs
- Review labor information
- Manage assigned timesheet functions
- Review or update schedules when permitted
- Publish open shifts when the function is enabled
Choose the Correct Login Route Before You Start
Many login failures happen because an employee enters the right credentials on the wrong portal. Use the table below to identify the most suitable route.
| Your situation | Recommended route | Credentials normally used | Best next step |
|---|---|---|---|
| Frontline or hourly associate without OMS access | ESS Mobility or Compass Associate Portal | Existing CAP username and password | Open More → Paystubs on mobile |
| Manager or hourly administrator with OMS | ESS Mobility or OMS | OMS credentials | Use the role-based dashboard after login |
| New associate who has never registered | Compass Associate Portal registration | Create an account after employment verification | Complete registration before using Mobility |
| Using a desktop or laptop | Compass Associate Portal or OMS | CAP or OMS credentials according to role | Use the larger-screen portal for easier downloading |
| Former associate | Official Compass payroll or W-2 support | Access may depend on account status | Call One HR option 2 instead of repeatedly retrying |
ESS Mobility Login Steps
Open the official mobile address
Enter ess.compassassociate.com directly into your browser. The page requires JavaScript, so it may not work correctly when scripts are blocked.
Avoid search advertisements, copied login pages and websites asking you to submit your password outside the official system.
Use the credentials assigned to your role
Hourly associates without OMS access generally use their Compass Associate Portal credentials. Managers and hourly administrators with OMS access normally use their OMS login.
Complete any security prompt
Follow the authentication screen shown by the portal. Never approve an unexpected login request or verification prompt that you did not initiate.
Open the More menu
On the associate mobile interface, pay stubs have historically been located under More. Menu wording can change, so also look for Payroll, Pay, Paycheck or Paystubs.
Log out when finished
Close the pay-stub document and use the portal’s logout option, especially on a shared, borrowed or workplace device.
How to View and Download a Compass Pay Stub
- Sign in to ESS Mobility using the correct credentials for your role.
- Tap More in the mobile navigation.
- Select Paystubs, Paychecks or the equivalent payroll option.
- Choose the pay date or pay period you need.
- Open the pay-stub record and review the details before downloading it.
- Use the browser’s download, share, print or save-to-files option.
- Log out after confirming the file was saved successfully.
How to save the file so you can find it later
Use a consistent filename instead of leaving the document with a generic download name. For example:
Store payroll documents in a protected folder, encrypted cloud drive or password-secured device. Do not leave them in an open Downloads folder on a shared computer.
What to Check on Your Pay Stub
Downloading the document is only half the job. Review it while the pay period is still fresh, when your schedule and timecard are easier to remember.
What to do when the amount appears wrong
- Confirm you opened the correct pay date and pay period.
- Compare the stub with your approved timecard, schedule or recorded hours.
- Write down the exact difference instead of saying only that the pay is incorrect.
- Ask your manager whether a timecard correction or payroll adjustment is pending.
- For unresolved payroll matters, contact Compass One HR and select option 2.
ESS Mobility Login Problems and Safe Fixes
| Problem | Likely cause | Safe action |
|---|---|---|
| Invalid username or password | Typing error, saved old password or wrong portal credentials | Type the details manually, check Caps Lock and use the password-recovery option instead of guessing repeatedly |
| Forgotten password | Password cannot be recalled or was recently changed | Use Forgot Password on the CAP login page and follow the official recovery process |
| Registered email is no longer available | Old personal or work email remains on the account | Use the official Reset Account option when available or contact your manager or HR |
| Account appears locked | Repeated failed login attempts or a security restriction | Stop retrying, use account recovery and contact official support if recovery fails |
| Blank or white page | JavaScript blocked, corrupted site data or outdated browser | Enable JavaScript, update the browser, try a private tab and clear data only for the portal domain |
| Login redirects repeatedly | Expired session, blocked cookies or conflicting saved login | Close all portal tabs, reopen a private window and sign in once from the official address |
| Latest pay stub is missing | Wrong pay date, payroll still processing or role-specific display delay | Confirm the pay date with your manager, check CAP on desktop and call One HR option 2 if still missing |
| PDF will not open | Popup blocked, download permission denied or browser viewer issue | Allow the document to open, try Save to Files or use an updated desktop browser |
| Former employee cannot log in | Active-employee access has changed or expired | Use the official Compass payroll or W-2 support route rather than creating a duplicate account |
Try these browser fixes in this order
- Confirm you are on the official domain.
- Close duplicate login tabs.
- Turn off automatic password filling for one attempt and enter the password manually.
- Open a private or incognito window.
- Confirm JavaScript and cookies are allowed for the portal.
- Update Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox.
- Try another trusted device or network.
- Contact support if the same error continues.
